"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!

I was recently at a friends house and decided one of her two cats is too fat. It was sitting at its bowl gorging itself while the little one paced nearby meowing. I shook my fist at its fatass and told it to share with the little one. It meowed at me and continued eating. Its events like this that make me wonder.
